Welcome! Would you like to be more present & joyful in your daily life? Are you feeling worried, tense, or finding it hard to relax? Do you get stuck thinking about the past or the future? Does perfectionism get in your way? Does fear of saying or doing "the wrong thing" make it hard for you to interact socially? If these questions resonate then please reach out; I would love to be your therapist! I specialize in anxiety disorders and I'm passionate about helping people find more ease, satisfaction and connection in their lives.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I specialize in anxiety disorders, life transitions & stress reduction in college students and adults. I received my Master’s in Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill in 2020 and I’ve worked at Starling Family Services since 2021. Before that, I worked at a local agency serving families as an outpatient therapist and school-based therapist. I completed my graduate field placements with a School Social Worker & a team of clinicians providing Family Centered Therapy. I have also worked with college students as a Resident Advisor and volunteered with survivors of interpersonal violence.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time outside with my partner, baking vegan treats, swimming and creating art. I have worked as a professional yoga teacher & maintain my own personal practice. I was born and raised in England and have spent the past 18 years in North Carolina.
My Approach
I believe in partnership in the therapeutic relationship. As your therapist, I bring my clinical training and offer validation, psychoeducation, tools, and clinical interventions based on your needs. As the client, you are the expert in your own life and bring with you a wealth of knowledge about your past experiences, current struggles, and dreams for the future. Together we can build a collaborative, trusting relationship that lets you explore and express yourself without fear of judgment. In addition to traditional talk therapy, I use mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork and draw on my experience as a trained yoga teacher.
As a social worker, critiquing and working to dismantle systems of oppression is central to my work. I engage in my own anti-racism and anti-oppression work as a white, cis, queer, able-bodied woman. I am affirming of the LGBTQIA+ community and folks of all identities and backgrounds.
